Dear Jack - Dad's turn III

It’s been an exciting time since I last wrote. You are now well on your way with solid foods, and feeding you is always a riot. So far you’ve liked what we’ve stuffed in your mouth, with the exception of carrots. (Though I can’t blame you for that one, they were pretty nasty.) You’ve also figured out that opening your mouth wide open when you see the spoon coming means more in the belly and less on the chin. Your mother and I seem to have different techniques though—you are noticeably cleaner whenever I feed you!

During playtime we’ve been able to introduce some new toys to keep you occupied. You especially love your mother’s trashy magazines! Few things hold your attention like crinkling and tearing apart the latest US or People. Personally I think it’s all the bright and colorful pictures that draw you in, but maybe you despise Paris Hilton as much as mom and dad do! You’ve also entered the “if you have it, I want it” phase. Regardless of what we’re holding, you’re struggling to take it away from us. Thankfully, you no longer feel the need to cram these objects in your mouth anymore. (Perhaps you’ve realized the taste is less than spectacular.)

Though there haven’t been any major developments in your quest for mobility, you’ve been making a lot of effort to sit up. We figure you’ll nail that one in the next couple of weeks.

One thing that hasn’t changed is how much you like chillin’ with me on the couch. I hope you don’t grow tired of it anytime soon because I love it. (It will be even better when you can hold yourself upright!)
